SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - A 27-year-old Summerside man pleaded guilty in provincial court Wednesday to two charges following a gun-related incident in downtown Summerside on Sept. 5.

Adrian Steven Gallant, 27, will be sentenced Sept. 24 on one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of dangerous use of a firearm.

Gallant was arrested after Summerside Police Services got a complaint that a man, carrying what looked like an assault rifle, had approached two women sitting in a car at the Harbourfront Theatre parking lot.

The women fled and reported the situation to the police

Police later arrested Gallant using what they called a “high-risk takedown.” They recovered an airsoft-style pellet gun that looked like a military-style carbine rifle.
