A woman has been displaced by a fire late last night that extensively damaged an older wood-frame house a few kilometres west of New Glasgow, P.E.I.
Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross have arranged emergency lodging and food, clothing purchases and other basics while she awaits a damage assessment and insurance claim.
The woman wasn’t home at the time so there were no injuries from the fire, reported around 11 p.m. on July 12 at 21 Myers Road.
