Environment Canada is continuing its special weather statement, saying a winter storm is possible over P.E.I. late Wednesday but mostly through Thursday into Friday.
“Snow will develop over Prince Edward Island Wednesday evening and may change to ice pellets and freezing rain and possibly to rain on Thursday, especially over the eastern half of the province,” says the updated statement issued at 10:40 a.m. today.
“Significant snowfall is possible and snowfall warnings may be required once this system draws nearer.
"However as this system has yet to form, there are still a range of possible scenarios that could significantly change the precipitation types and amounts before it arrives in the region."
The forecast for today calls for a mix of cloud and sun with continuing cold wind.
The temperature today is expected to rise from around -5 up to -3 through the afternoon.
The Confederation Bridge is currently open to all traffic with no warnings.

On P.E.I. today, early morning temperatures ranged from a high of -3.9 at East Point, to a low of -5.6 at Maple Plains.
