The victim of a fatal car accident on Monday afternoon has been identified as Justin Cody Clyke.

Clyke, 24, was a Crapaud resident who died when his car left the road and struck a tree in Bonshaw.

A visitation will be held at Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. An interment will be held later in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery.

RCMP are still investigating the crash, which occurred on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Appin Road at about 3:40 p.m. Monday.

Clyke was driving east towards Cornwall when his car left the road.

Investigating officer Const. Jeff Tuttle said Clyke was wearing his seatbelt and had studded winter tires on his car.

While it could be several months before an autopsy report is completed, Tuttle said “at this point” it appeared that road conditions contributed to the collision although he noted the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP said a female passenger in the car was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with injuries and is currently in stable condition.

Clyke’s obituary states that if desired, memorial donations to the funeral expense fund would be appreciated.
