Golf tourism is considered big bucks in P.E.I.
That’s one of the reasons the federal and provincial governments are giving more than $500,000 to support the efforts of Golf P.E.I. as it continues its marketing efforts.
The federal government is contributing $284,397 over two years through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s business development program, which will help the association focus on its strategic goal of promoting P.E.I. as a premier golf destination in 2018 and 2019.
The P.E.I. government will chip in another $228,000.
Golf P.E.I. has had success in establishing a strong online, on-site and TV presence to attract visitors from Canadian and the northeastern U.S. markets. The organization intends to ramp up its digital marketing tactics and use the power of social media with golf and tourism influencers and advocates to draw further attention to P.E.I. as a must-play golf destination.
Golf P.E.I. is a non-profit association of provincial golf industry stakeholders. It currently supports 18 member courses, yet it promotes all of what the Island has to offer as a golf destination to draw golfers from all over the world to more than 400 fairways in the Island.
