Bedford small businessman Darren Creamer will be seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 8, Stanhope-Marshfield, in the next provincial election.
“I believe that we need to do more to develop opportunities for our youth to build their futures here on Prince Edward Island,” Creamer said. “We need to make sure that the right pieces are in place for our youth to prosper and unfortunately that isn’t happening right now.”
Creamer grew up in Souris West and is the owner/operator of Dogwood Siding in Bedford which specializes in environmentally friendly building products. Darren and his wife Austina are the proud parents of two children, Samantha and Jean-Claude.
Creamer ran as the Progressive Conservative candidate in District 8, then known as Tracadie-Hillsborough Park, in the 2015 general election.
Creamer is currently chair of 60 Squadron Air Cadets, is a zone director of the Native Council of Prince Edward Island, and is a chair of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean Key Leader Program through Kiwanis. He is also a past president of the Charlottetown Kiwanis Club, a past treasurer of Wood Products PEI, a past member of the Canadian Home Builders Association and has volunteered with local Boy Scouts and Cubs groups.
In his spare time, Creamer competitively races motorcycles and has won three Atlantic Drag Racing Association championships in the last four years.
“I’m excited by the team our leader James Aylward is putting together to help change our province for the better and I’m excited to put my name forward to join that team,” Creamer said.
District 8 is currently represented in the P.E.I. legislature by Buck Watts, the speaker of the legislature.
